Australia,
Brazil, France, Germany, Britain and the United
States, delivered a letter to
Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Shigeo Uetake
calling on Japan to
immediately abandon its "scientific
whaling" program.
- Bravo to all 25 countries, who rejected Iceland's return to the
IWC on 20th May 2002.
- All 15 Countries (lead by Ireland) which supported the whaling
ban and the Whale
Sanctuaries (specifically Brazil, Argentina and India
who resisted Japan (ese money) in
June 2001. The group asking Japan to stop included -
led by Ireland -representatives
of New Zealand, Germany, Austria, Brazil, Britain,
Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico,
Monaco, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the
United States. Let us applaud them,
but let us also not forget so quickly Adelaide,
Monaco and London: NO RMS !
- Germany, who stands strong and has one of the best track
records against whaling!
- New Zealand (Conservation Minister Mrs. Sandra Lee) and
Australia (Environment
Minister David Kemp) - thanks for your continued firm
stand on sanctuaries!
- German food distribution giant ALDI Einkauf GmbH & Co (who
cancelled all purchase
contracts from the Faroes) More than 1,250 stores
said NO!
- All the other 20,000 retailers (REWE, EDEKA, TENGELMANN and now
KARSTADT,
who cancelled contracts with the Faroes and/or Denmark in
protest against the Faroe whale
massacres.
